Why is Obama having government employees get paid more & adding new government jobs in a down economy?

For most Americans, the Great Recession has been an occasion to hold on for dear life. For public employees, it’s been an occasion to let the good times roll.

The percentage of federal civil servants making more than 0,000 a year jumped from 14 percent to 19 percent during the first year and a half of the recession, according to USA Today. At the beginning of the downturn, the Transportation Department had one person making 0,000 or more a year; now it has 1,690 making that.

The New York Times reports that state and local governments have added a net 110,000 jobs since the beginning of the recession, while the private sector has lost 6.9 million. The gap between total compensation of public and private workers has only widened during the downturn, according to USA Today. In 2008, benefits for public employees grew at a rate three times that of private employees.

To make us all dependent upon an almighty state. Modern day slavery.

Because if you can get over 51% of the people on the governments payroll they will be able to keep the Progressives in power. Nice observation.

Why are jobs being created in a down economy?

Are you kidding? You do know that when people are employed, they spend more money, right?

    Geezus….

This is from April 2009. Get back to us when you have some current information. And perhaps can explain why it’s a bad thing to add jobs.

Aflac…where is the money they are spending coming from? How long will that money last given that it is not the result of production? You may be glad to pay to have someone else succeed regardless of weather they have earned it but I am not. They have the opportunity to succeed just like anybody else but they are not owed it.

Simple, to get the bragging rights to having created more jobs in a jobless environment. It serves 2 purposes, one to claim more jobs, the second to further burden and already stressed economy. The poorer the economy, the more people will need the help of the government to survive. The more dependents, the more power to the federal government. To gain much control, you need a little to start with.

Great! Thanks for the heads up. I am applying for one ASAP. A job is a job, especially a well-paid one.
