I just graduated with a MBA from a local school and would really love to get a job with the federal government. I don’t have alot of experience to go with my education. My questions #1 I read GS- 9 positions are for people with a Master’s degree…do I have to apply for GS-9 to be considered for employment? #2 Is there a simpler or more effective way to apply other than through USAjobs? I’ve put in quite a few applications there and I haven’t received anything other than an automated response so far. #3 I live in the states but would love to work in a different country for a few years (one of the reasons I’ve been looking to government jobs). Is it easy to make a move once you get your foot into the door? Thank you for any help…

i’ve been working for local government for the past 6 years. like many other local government, we are experience tough economic times which may result in reductions in force, pay freezes, hiring freezes or reduction in salary. i look on usajobs every once in a while and find plenty of jobs that equate to what i’m doing. is the federal gov’t experiencing the same problems? i don’t to apply for a job, maybe be offered one and only to be RIF’d 6 months later. my current job is pretty safe for the most part.

I’m a former millitary veteran and i was stationed in germany. but then i got out after my service..i’m currently back in the states, i was wondering if my local unemployment office could help me get a job overseas working on millitary bases or AAFES Stores abroad or government jobs abroad…any advice would help
i was in the army for 4 years and i’m 26 years old. i’m specifically looking for ways to find work in germany.

Has anyone ever had any experience of job posts being deleted in local government and asking it’s employee’s to re-apply for their jobs? What does this mean? Thing is it’s not for me, just heard my old team have had this done to them. Is it quite likely they will get their jobs back as they are favourites?

My boyfriend is a leuitenant in the National Guard, he’s been with them for 9 years. He also has a bachelor’s in political science and business. He wants a job that he can make a difference, but doesn’t want to make policies. He needs to get started and end his job as a mall cop. He would love to do city management. How can he get started? What kind of jobs can get him visible for local government positions?

I will graduate college in May and although I don’t expect for the floodgates of jobs to open up by then, can I at least possibly look at gainful employment within a year if this stimulus package works the way its supposed to? If at all possibe, I’d really like a job within my local city government but they’re laying people off because of the lack of money.

Seing that the 4th of july this year, will fall on Wed, the middle of the week, will the Government agencies be claiming only Wed. or with they also be taking a friday or monday to boot.

just wanting to know where our Tax money is going to go, or will we all be loosing out for the Fed, State and locals governments to get even another holiday payday off again.
Why don’t we have either the non government workers all get as many holidays off as the Federal, States, and local governments, or will the government agencies, look to cut back and save our country Billions and billions of Dollars a Year, by cutting back the amount of these Holidays they come up with to take off.

If you had a business that was doing badly, would you ignore it and not work harder time waise to get your business better and save it, or would you take the extra time to get the jobs out and make better customers and get that job done to better your work again and make more money?

I’m 16, graduating high school in a couple of weeks, and I’m going to have the summer off. I’m also going to be going to a CC for two semesters, as my parents don’t think me living in a dorm will be age appropriate.

Anyway, I want to be involved in the government. I want to gain valuable experience. Is there any way a teen can volunteer/maybe get a job to do that?
