I am 36 years old and have a 12 year old daughter, I have a class B cdl already and have drove a dumptruck for almost a year. I cant seem to get a good job. I was wondering if I go to truck driver school and get my class A is there a good chance of getting a local driving job so I can be home everyday or would I have to drive 48 stste for a year? Any good advise would be greatly appreciated.

Well to sum it up, i been searching for a job for the past 2 months after getting layed off, to no avail of finding one that pays me a fraction of what i got paid (65k a year) Im curious to know how OTR truck driving is with teams (My friends interested as well)

I heard Schneider is something like 14 days 3 days off, which that kind of sucks but in order to obtain your CDL thru a company it seems like you have to start out doing OTR.

Any input? Preferably from a current/past OTR driver. If i can stick it out for a few years and then get a local truck driving job is what im kind of looking at. ( I like to look ahead )

I am currently attending a truck driving school to obtain a CDL-A license. I really dont want to do long haul. I would prefer to stay local…maybe drive for the post office,Fed-Ex or UPS. I would consider doing short hauls lasting only a couple days away at a time. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
